Scottish fisherman Jamie McMillian advised the BBC that his crew spends three hours each morning finishing paperwork for the European Union. He added that he now exports to markets within the Far East as it’s “cheaper and quicker” than exporting to France following Brexit.
He added: “In simple terms exports to China, Singapore or Hong Kong is cheaper and export there than it is to France.
“So we’re pushing gross sales within the UK and pushing gross sales within the Far East to try to compensate for what now we have misplaced from Europe.”
June Mummery has been a vocal critic of the fishing terms the UK secured in the post-Brexit trade agreement with the EU.
During an interview with Express.co.uk the former Brexit Party MEP shamed the UK Government for securing “terrible” terms for the UK fishing industry.
“Trying again now, they have been unprepared, I knew it.
“Even the last two weeks before we were leaving I thought this is going to collapse because we had not heard anything.
“The [fishing] trade had not heard about exporting.
“The reason they agreed with this awful deal was because they were unprepared and Boris was being fed lots of misinformation.”
